After a long legal battle the Seminole Tribe will get to keep its casinos alive in Florida. “Legislators agreed to almost of the provisions sought by the anti-gambling House, including a plan to allow slot machines at the Seminole casinos outside of Miami-Dade and Broward and the exclusive right to banked card games at its Hard Rock complexes in Broward and Hillsborough counties. They aren’t the only winners in the case as the Hialeah race track will reopen under the new ruling with card rooms and slots machines.

There is currently a ban on online gambling in the United States. That means no American company may operate a gambling website on US soil and technically no American should be spending their money at an online casino. That has done little to deter gambling online amongst Americans and some lawmakers want to legalize online gambling so that the taxes can be collected on winnings. A new bill passed before the courts would open up online gambling in the USA. There is large opposition to the bill and it is uncertain it will pass.

Canada is proactive in dealing with gambling addicts in trying to stop the problem before it starts. Suggestions before the Canadian government are aimed at stopping people from gambling before it becomes a problem. Commercials will not be allowed to show any form of gambling being glamorized and equal time mus be spent on advertisements for gambling hotlines. Gambling ads will also only be allowed to run during adult programming. The electronic gaming machines inside casinos must also be regulated in how long a person can play in one sitting and their loses must be shown at all times.
